The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport Programme supports investments in sustainable transport across Europe, including through the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF), which blends EU grants with financing to support alternative fuels infrastructure on the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
AFIF supports investments in alternative fuels infrastructure across the European Union. The facility aims to accelerate the transition to cleaner transport by supporting projects such as:
- Electric vehicle charging infrastructure;
- Hydrogen refuelling stations;
- Shore-side electricity supply for ports;
- Airport infrastructure supporting cleaner transport; and
- Other sustainable transport infrastructure on the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
Malta Development Bank’s Role
MDB, as an Implementing Partner (IP) of the European Commission under AFIF, supports eligible project promoters by:
- Providing financing alongside the EU grant;
