Alison Micallef
Chief Executive OfficerAlison Micallef has over 30 years’ experience in financial services across domestic and international institutions, with roles in risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance. She worked in Vienna developing strategies for risk, sustainability, and digitalisation, and has advised financial institutions globally on implementing comprehensive risk management systems.
Joseph Darmanin
Chief Business Development OfficerJoseph Darmanin is responsible for business strategy, financial products, and European affairs. He previously worked as a senior economist at the Central Bank of Malta’s Governor’s Office, focusing on macroprudential supervision and contributing to the MDB’s establishment, including market failure studies and European Commission negotiations.

Chief Finance OfficerEliza Vella is a Certified Public Accountant with over 15 years’ experience in finance, regulatory reporting, and auditing in banking. As CFO at the Malta Development Bank, she manages financial operations, reporting, and internal control frameworks, ensuring robust financial governance and regulatory compliance across the organisation.
Glen Lethridge
Chief Information Technology OfficerGlen Lethridge has over 30 years of IT experience in banking, working in infrastructure management, operations, information security, and business continuity. He has worked with European IT institutions and led complex projects in Malta, focusing on maintaining stable operations whilst supporting innovation and technological advancement.
Tyrone Mizzi Navarro
Financial risk managementTyrone Mizzi Navarro has over 15 years’ experience in financial risk management, governance, and regulatory oversight. He works on designing integrated risk frameworks for institutional resilience and has taught risk management at the University of Malta for over a decade, connecting academic concepts with practical application.
Antoine Psaila
Chief Internal AuditorAntoine Psaila is Chief Internal Auditor at the MDB with over 20 years’ experience. An ACCA member, Certified Public Accountant, and Certified Information Systems Auditor, he led internal audit at the Central Bank of Malta, introducing risk-based auditing and IT audit capabilities. He has worked on European System of Central Banks task forces.

Chief Projects & Treasury Management OfficerKevin Vassallo is a Certified Public Accountant with over 35 years’ experience in the banking and finance industry. His expertise lies mainly in treasury and financial risk management. He specialises in capital funding and liquidity management and is also responsible for project financing, ensuring optimal funding structures and sustainable financial solutions.

Chief Credit OfficerMaria Xuereb has over 35 years’ experience in commercial and development banking, working in strategic leadership and credit risk. She has developed national financing schemes at the Malta Development Bank and managed credit operations across retail and corporate banking, contributing to business growth, risk management, and governance.

Chief Corporate Services OfficerBrian Zahra is an experienced Management Consultant focused on leadership development, organisational behaviour, and risk management. Over 25 years, he has worked in senior roles across public and private sectors, including the Malta Police Force, Transport Malta, and Corinthia Hotels. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration.
